      Ms Moning is someone well-known in the bookish world. Yes I've heard about her and many people recommended me her book but because of my aversion of urban fantasy books it was something I left for later. Now when that later has come I was finally able to read this book. Honestly I expected more.

      Not that this story wasn't interesting or something but because of all the amazing things I've heard I expected more. First of all Mac isn't someone I like as a character. We're basically two worlds and we might have some connections but still...two worlds. Not to mention that she was on the quest and searching for her sister's killer the main worry on her mind was freaking pink nail polish! That annoyed the hell out of me. The whole idea of the story was really good and interesting Mac managed to ruin some part of it for me. For the other characters Barrons was a really mysterious and dark character which together with this story was a great combination. Also I look forward seeing more V'lane's character. He seems interesting and I guess I'll see him around.

      Well yes because of all the mystery and fae-world I'll continue with this series and I'll also hope to see a grown up Mac and more of the fae around. Not only fae but also all the other creatures of the night. Good thing is also that now my expectations aren't so high so I'll probably enjoy the next book more.

       Quite honestly I didn't want to write reviews for either of these but then again I've gotten them for review so it's only fair to do this. If you wonder why I didn't want to, well I don't know how I feel about them.

       I put these two together cause they're similar but then again very different at the same time. Both are basically just stories told from boys POVs. They're different cause they are two different stories all together.

       Now to This Girl. I was really happy that I got to see Will as a narrator but at the same time I was afraid. Even though the fist two books in this series weren't flawless I still enjoyed them. To be honest this one was sweet too but it had some sucks and sweets. Sweets were seeing and remembering the story in general, then reading another slams which is always special and also the epilogue. I didn't need it cause I more or less had that idea in my head but it was sweet. Sucks for me were all the parts at honeymoon. It was too cheesy and I wasn't buying it.

       All in all I'm really happy that I've gotten a chance to refresh my memory. Now it's really time to leave this story behind, I think.

       Beautiful Disaster was something special to me. I believe it was the first New Adult book to me even though I had no idea what that meant at the time. Lately all NA stories are somehow the same. But I don't believe we'll get another Travis cause that boy is unique. I can't say that I love him or hate him. I understand him somehow which is the only thing that matters.

      I was even more happy to read this story cause I've read Beautiful Disaster a year or so ago so remembering all the drama was nice and intense. I got to see some other things here and it was good but besides that it was nothing new. I don't know what have I expected.

     Another thing that connects these two is that while you're reading them some time after you've got through the previous books in series you're good. You'll enjoy and remember some things. Problem is for people who are reading them right after they have finished the previous books in these series. I don't think they'll enjoy. But it's up to them to decide.

I won't rate either of these as I can't make up my mind. But all in all nothing extremely new happened.

Tanja's Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Annoying Things in YA Books

Hello. It's another Tuesday and that basically means another Top Ten Tuesday. It's a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish where every week we pick top ten picks for a certain topic. Today the topic is

1. Annoying main character. Mostly female. I've met plenty of these and now I'm running away from them as far as I can.

2. Love-triangles. This can rarely be done properly and in that case I wouldn't mind so much. But that's really rare.

3. Predictability. Like the previous the book has to be written nicely and really touch my heart so I can turn my blind eye.

4. Stereotypes. Ah yes every american girl is blonde and clueless but really smart and every boy plays football and is extremely hot.

5. Cliches. You know that girl who things that the most ugliest girl in the world catches the eye of extremely hot boy and he tells her that she is the most beautiful thing in the world.

6. Different books with different POVs. These are extremely popular these days. But I really can't read the same old story from fifteen POVs.

7. The Catcher in the freaking Rye. Seriously people! Every time I read a book the only thing that students read is The Catcher in the freaking Rye! I don't mind the book but there are plenty of other classics. Just use something else.

8. Instant love. Gah!

9. Slow-pacing. I really have to be interested in the book to go on but I hate slow starts.

10. Yes and no endings. You know when book is not finished but still is. It's mostly cause there should be left some space for sequel as everything has a sequel these days.

     If there was a certain type of the book I could point out as my favorite it would be this one. Stories about kids with messed-up past or present who're struggling to find themselves. They are going through hell and back and mostly they can't put their life first as there is someone depending on them. These books are one of the rare cases when I don't mind predictability.

    I just told you more or less the main topics of this book. On one side we have Ryan, the boy that most people think is perfect with his perfect life and perfect future. Only what's on the surface is not necessary the reflection of the real status. He has to keep a lot of things inside himself as appearance is the most important thing in this town, as in any other. On the other hand we have Beth whose life is everything but perfect. Future for her might be a blessing at some moments. She is too young to even take care of herself no to talk about her mother. As she thinks that all what have happened in their lives is her fault she knows that she can't go and leave her mother behind. Her mother is a burden she has to carry. Once they meet they know that nothing between them can happened that would mean the cracking of their lives - for Ryan that would be the destruction of his perfect image and for Beth it would mean putting her own life first and that's not an option.

      This book is heart-breaking and wonderful but also really funny! I laughed out loud a lot of times on Beth's witty moments and Ryan's comebacks. Pushing the Limits was on of my favorite reads last year and I can say that Dare You To will probably be one of my favorite reads this year. I should predict that Crash Into You is next on this list. I can't help myself as Katie really knows how to touch my heart.

     If there is some certain type of the story I run away from then it's war stories. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed some of them like Anne Frank but that was before I had to survive four years of high-school and constantly reading them. I'm probably over-reacting but trust me most of the classics in lit here are based on some war. I'm a hippie somewhere in my heart so you can guess how much I complained. But this was something else.

     Yes it still is a war story but it's more than that. It tells you about the war and all the suffering but it tells you a wonderful story about survival and growing up. The Soviet Union is something that I, like I believe most of your, have heard of in high-school. But it was mostly about Russia and the Baltic states were mostly just that - little countries and mostly nothing more. I really had no idea about the suffering they went through during the Second World War and reading about it broke something inside of me. We get to met Lina and her family. After the war started many of the people were taken because they were suspicious and their families had to suffer as well. Lina's family was one of them. Her father was a professor at the university and one day she, her mother and brother were taken. Her father wasn't with them. From that point on starts the story about the survival in the Russian camps and the hell called winter in Siberia. With all that it's also a story about Lina's growing up, love, family and most of all hope. Hope was the only thing that could get you through that.

      I was very young when I had read Anne Frank's story and it broke me. Now I'm let's say older and supposedly wiser and then I should know about the real side of the war and all the sad and mostly terrifying stories. But the truth is nothing can prepare you for this.

     At the end of the book the author says that this was not her stories as mostly the things from the book are based on the true stories. Only there is a catch - it's not enough just to tell the story you need to be the right person to put the feeling in the right places. You Ruta Sepetys did just that and more than that. Thank you and your fan-base has got a new member.

Rating: 5 shiny stars.

PS. If there is one bad thing about this book it's that it shares name with the one that shall not be named.

     Once again I'm stepping out of my comfort zone with this book. Yes you have noticed that I neither read a lot of adult books nor review the short stories. Well as you can see just now I'm doing both. It's not that I don't like these short stories it's just I don't know how to feel about them. They're different form the novels as you can't get the full background with these. So I hope that the author, publishers and tour organizer won't mind the lack of rating here. It's not that I don't like the story or anything it's just that I don't know how to rate this.

      Back to the story now. You get to meet Eden here as one narrator and her neighbor Jay as the second one. Yes they have been friends and next-door-neighbors for three years and both of them wanted more. Only neither wanted to lose the friendship they had cause if they took step forward that could possibly ruin everything they had. But Eden is the brave one here and her friends invent the perfect plan to move things forward. I must say nice played. But the insecurity is still there and it's a big step to make.

      If I had to describe this book in few words they would be hot, fast-read and interesting. This book is perfect when you need something hot to entertain you, cause it's only 50 pages long.

Sarah and I had to squeeze in between the people on the crowded elevator to get in behind Jessica and Carrie. There’s something just freakishly unnerving about touching people when they don’t know you’re there. It made me want to puke. If I even could puke in this state. And watching Carrie, holding Jessica’s hand with that deadly serious expression on her face … I’d have done anything to be able to touch her. To make her understand I was still here. To tell her everything was going to be okay.
Somehow, though, I didn’t think that was true.
Just as the elevator doors closed, I saw the strangest thing. A little boy, halfway down the hall to the emergency room. He was young, maybe eight or ten, and wore a Spider-Man t-shirt and a cap turned halfway to his shoulder. He was looking around, lost, confused, and then a nurse walked right through him. I almost jumped out of the elevator, but the doors closed and he was gone.
It was frightening.
Sarah, on the other hand, was beyond ridiculous. Riding on the elevator in front of her was a buff looking EMT in his early twenties. About six feet compared to her five foot two, he nearly hid her from me with his bulked up shoulders and his neck that looked like a tree trunk. This guy seriously worked out. He looked like he hadn’t shaved, and he’d been up a long time. His eyes were drooping, dark circles underneath them, and he leaned against the side of the elevator as if he would just go to sleep.
“Hey, Ray, check this out,” Sarah said. Then my mouth dropped open because she reached her arms around him, putting her tiny hands on his ample pecs.
“Sarah, knock it off,” I said.
She took that as a challenge, pressing herself up against him. Even though I’m a hell of a lot older than she is, and I’m married to her sister, I’d be inhuman to not admit that she’s one very sexy girl, more so in that red dress than in her usual pseudo punk outfit. She grinned at me, stood on her tiptoes, then opened her mouth and slid her tongue up the side of his neck.
“Oh, for God’s sake! Sarah!”
The guy twitched, his eyes opening up. There’s no way he felt anything. But he seemed to react anyway.
She dissolved into snickering and backed away from him. “Have a sense of humor.” She wiggled her eyebrows at me, and said, “There are definite advantages to this nearly dead thing.”
I breathed a sigh of relief when the elevator doors slid open and we stepped out behind Carrie and Jessica.
“Sarah, you can’t do that stuff. Just because we’re ... whatever we are … I mean…”
She turned toward me, so suddenly I stopped in my tracks.
“Don’t you tell me what I can or can’t do. For all you know we’re both dead. What the hell happens after this? I don’t know. You don’t know. So just leave me alone!” Her voice rose to a shout at the end.
I grimaced. “Sarah ... we’re going to be fine. Both of us.”
She shook her head. “You don’t know that. You don’t know anything. What I know is I’m fucking pissed. I’m not even eighteen years old yet. And it’d be nice to get a chance to have a life.”
A flash of anger ran through me. Anger about Weber and Roberts and Kowalski and all the others we lost. Anger at this spoiled rich girl who somehow thought her life was better or more valuable than theirs. Totally misplaced and wrong, but there it was.
“Sometimes we don’t get that chance,” I said. “You want to hear the truth? Well, here it is: you’re right. I don’t know shit. I know I’ve seen close friends blown all to hell. I’ve seen people I cared about with their lives ripped to shreds from bullets and bombs, and the survivors turn on each other like fucking rabid dogs. Life is cheap, Sarah. So maybe it’s over. We had our chance.”
She backed away from me as I spoke, her eyes avoiding mine. Finally she just turned and started to walk away, following behind Jessica and Carrie.
Crap.
“Sarah!” I called.
She ignored me, so I called louder, “Sarah, I’m sorry.”
She stopped, then finally turned around, and looked at me. Her eyes were cold. “Just because you’ve been in a war doesn’t mean you’ve got a monopoly on shitty situations. And this is a shitty situation. So back to what I said before—don’t tell me what to do.”
With that, she turned back around, the skirt of her dress swirling as she turned and walked away.

    How far you'll get with this book depends mostly on how long you can tolerate some linguistic errors, regardless if they're grammatical, syntactic or structural or any other. As you can see I can tolerate it but then again my grammar sucks sometimes so I'm in no position to judge anyone. But also the story is really gripping and I wanted to see what will happen. I'm really happy cause of that.

    When I say happy for that I mostly mean that I've got to read the ending of this book. Yes this is a series and everything but then again this ending was the only right thing to do. But besides that this is also a story about angels and considering that they're my favorite creatures I always expect much more. That mistake is mine and mine alone so maybe some people will love this story more. The main problem for me was the characterization of angels. When you create them as villains it creates some bad feelings inside me. I don't have such a problem with Nephilim but then about archangels I do.

    To tell you more about the book. We have a girl named Rosa as a pretty good kick-ass character. After some events in her past she decided to become a hunter and with her determination she became one of the best. While living in the world where the world as we know it has been invaded the two tabors are created. Some cities are the cities of hunters while other are the cities of angels. The problems for Rose starts when all of the sudden two angels are in her city. Yes they have glamour but they can't fool Rose. Even though all her instincts tell her to kill them as it's her job she is curious to see why are they there. Something is off. Jason one of the angles is on a quest and searching for someone very important to him.

    Besides all the things I mentioned above which were problems for me this book also has some good sides. First one is the whole idea for the story is good. Maybe I'd change some things but this is not my book. The idea is good and I do see potential in it. The author also managed to create something that some author's never do - feelings. But most of the bad things could be fixed with a good editor. Towards the end of the book this became such an amazing thing. I'm really happy that I've had the opportunity to read it.

       First off I want to thank Sarika @The Readdicts for the read-along. I really enjoyed reading this book with you and sharing thoughts about it.  I hope we'll get to read-along some other books in the future. *fingers and toes crossed* ;)

       Because Sarika is more responsible than I am she has already posted her review for this book. Quite honestly she made my job a lot easier as I see that we more or less completely agree with some things about this book. First is my feeling for it. I don't know what to thing and as always when you have some sort of love-hate relationship with the book it's hard to explain. To be more precise I loved the start of this book. It was so mysterious and left me wanting for more. As soon as I started reading about Bobby and Kindle (cool name I know) things have gotten to change. I shall say that I'm an early 90's kid and that some things here are more than weird to me. When I say some things I mostly mean on the marriage between the two of the main characters. I came out of nowhere and as much as I tried to I simply couldn't get over it. All besides that was nice - I liked Bobby's bandmates and the story itself had some good points. But some little devil thing at the back of my mind kept remember that part and I simply couldn't enjoy it fully.

      I think that Sarika has liked the story better than me but still it was a nice story. It was quite different and it was nice to resolve the mystery.
