Book summary:
When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she knows it isn’t love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.
Never ask about the past. Don’t expect a future.
They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.
Hearts get infiltrated.Promises get broken.Rules get shattered.Love gets ugly.
Well this book was historic. But not because it was so good that it should be considered historic, but rather because it'll go down in my history for some reasons which would be:
a) I cried at some part of it but still won't give it 5 stars (not even close)
b) It has one of the worst female characters I have even encountered
c) It'll probably make me give up on NA for the sake of my physical health
Let's discuss these points one by one, shall we.
For those who know me a bit longer know that for me books that make me cry have special place in my heart and soul. They tend to stay with me for a long time and just the fact that I loved the characters so much is remarkable for me. But this one did not do that. I didn't cry because I loved the characters so much, it's quite the opposite, but I guess those were tears of last hope I had. Sadly both went down the drain.

Now as reviewers and firstly as readers we get to see a decent share of idiotic characters that make stupid decisions and make you pull your hair all the time. I had met some, but Tate is close to make it #1. It's not that she was a complete disaster, she had some good characteristic here and there, but I really but really couldn't understand her lack of dignity.
I have better idea, as I'll picture that for you.
So Tate is someone who I liked to call doormat throughout the book. But bare in mind that she is not the shiny new doormat that you've just bought and proudly put in front of your doors but she is rather that old one you are so ashamed but you always forget to change. So yeah, I really couldn't understand how she could take all that and go back to him with no self esteem whatsoever. Speaking of characters Miles was hot and everything you could ask for but his POV just made me cringe. I do get that poetic style and I usually love it, but doesn't suit his character at all.

Finally my NA issue that I've been dealing with for almost a year now. I loved Slammed series by this author, and that's why I had hopes for this one but sadly it seems that my tolerance level for these characters is really low. That's why for the sake of my well being I'll stick to the fantasy for now and maybe someday in the future go back to NA. But not soon.

Now you should also bare in mind that if you like NA stories with a nice dose of romance and steamy scenes featuring typical NA girl character and a really hot guy then you should go for it. Like Glass said in her review that book is just for you!

Rating: 2 stars. - it did make me cry after all.

Until the next time,

  1. I totally agree with your review, except I was just a little bit less tortured by it because I liked Miles' backstory (but didn't like him and Tate together AT ALL). I ended up giving it 3 stars, but basically said that it would have been way lower if it hadn't been for Miles' backstory. I loved Hoover's Maybe Someday, though!

  2. Okay. All your reasons are exactly why I haven't picked this book up yet. I don't want typical and I don't want doormat. Thanks for the review!

  3. Tanja, I'm sure I'd have the same feelings on this one as you. I loved Slammed and the sequels, but hated Maybe Someday. Another doormat heroine, IMO. I had a close friend read this, she was a huge fan of CoHo as well, and she didn't like it either. I don't want to read a book where I want to slap the MC into getting some self respect, and this seems like a prime case of that. I heard about the scene where he accidentally calls her by the name of a previous love. No thanks!! He'd get the boot if it were me! :( Great honest review! :)

  4. What a shame this one didn't work for you. I also loved Slammed and that's what is making me want to read this one. Thanks for your honest review.

  5. Oh I'm sorry you had a problem with this one. I keep hearing great things about the author and I think I'll have to try her one day.

  6. Well, I have read the Hopeless series by the author and i LOVED it. I was anxiously waiting for this one, but it seems that it's the typical kind of NA which I hate
    great review though

  7. Oh no! I am so sorry you didn't like this at all. I hate it when that happens.

  8. Aww...I'm sorry this was such a disappointment for you! :( I haven't read this yet, but I wasn't really intending to, because, like you, I'm not much of a NA fan at all. And the annoying protagonist makes me a bit wary too. :| Sorry to hear this was not what you were expecting. I hope your next read is better!

  9. I wasn't a huge fan of Slammed so I really doubt this is for me. Sorry to see it didn't work for you, Tanja, but thanks for such an honest review! :)

  10. "Tate is close to make it #1." Ohhhh boy, this does not sound good. I know what you mean that books that can make you cry but you still don't really care for them, that's happened to me a few times as well. I'll be avoiding this one, and I agree about NA, I really wish they would venture out of the stereotypical romance plot.

  11. Oh, this is a shame! I have seen a lot about Colleen Hoover's books and how great they are! So I really want to give one a try, but maybe I will start with her book called Maybe Someday instead. I can't stand doormat characters as you put them, or ones who make the dumbest decisions because I end up so frustrated! Agh! I hope your next read is more enjoyable :/

  13. Oh my God, thank God you didn't like this book. I only ever finished 50% of Colleen Hoover's Maybe Someday. It was a DNF sadly, and after that, I kind of gave up on the author who made us all smile and fangirl with Slammed and Hopeless series. I know Glass loved this book like many readers out there, but from what I've been hearing about it, it isn't my type. Some friends want me to read it, but hey, I trust your choice. I'm not reading it. Amazing review, Tanja!
