Book summary:
On Earth, seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander was taught to never peek, but if she hopes to survive life on her new planet, Loge, her eyes must never shut. Because in this world, pleasure is everything, held up by a ruling body that keeps their people in check by giving them what they want and closing their eyes to what's really happening around them. The only hope Loge has is to move its people to Earth, and they have a plan.
Thousands of humans crossed over to Loge after a poisonous neurotoxin released into Earth’s atmosphere, nearly killing them. They sought refuge in hopes of finding a new life, but what they became were slaves, built to siege war against their home planet. That is, unless Ari and Jackson can stop them. But on Loge, nothing is as it seems…and no one can be trusted.
Apart from all the sequels that are coming out this year for me this one was one of the most expected title. I really, but really wanted to get that purple sky. But for real, when you leave me hanging with a cliffhanger it drives me crazy and when you add a new planet into all that I go insane.

Gravity, the first novel in this series, was one of those that caught my attention and like I said in my review it wasn't flawless but it was enjoyable. But for me the most interesting thing is that where Gravity had flaws Hover was flawless and vice versa. While I enjoyed the picture of destroyed Earth in Gravity I expected to get the same from Loge. Unfortunately it didn't happen, or I might have expected too much. That's the problem when you promise me a totally new planted (with purple sky) I'll expect too much. Period. At the same time the first book was really action packed, same as Hover but I have got a feeling that the plot here was static. It's hard to explain, but whit all the action in this book the plot didn't move much forward. At the other hand the relationship between Ari and Jackson here bought me. It was so sweet and intimidating that I couldn't help but enjoy. Same is for Jackson. He was an interesting character in the Gravity, but here I saw his good, as well as bad days and that helped me connect with him more. Logically, Ari changed too and they grew together and they fulfill each other perfectly.

Honestly, I can't say that I'm disappointed with this book as I'm not. It had its ups and downs, but for one thing I really expect a lot from the next book. I might have turned blind-eye to some things here and I won't do it again. It means that I want to see Loge in its beauty and ugliness, and not to mention one real fight. Melissa you owe us that.

Needless to say, I got my purple sky at the end of the day.

Rating: 3.5 stars.

Until the next time,

  1. I have seen similar reviews about this one and it kind of makes me glad that I haven't started the series yet. I think I will wait until the next book. Second books in series can be so tricky!
    Great honest review! :)

  2. I've heard most people say the same thing about this book, Tanja and now I'm a little worried because I have this coming up for review.
I always expect a little more from the second book in a series, so to hear that the plot in this one is static worries me because I know it will frustrate me.
At least you got to know more about Ari and Jackson.
I'm glad that despite everything this didn't disappoint you too much.
    Great review!

  3. I'm watching Nikita (at season 2) right now and lol there's a bad guy Ari there. Ha, so the name made me laugh :D Anyhow, I've heard so many great things about Gravity. It is indeed interesting that the flaws were switched and what lacked from Gravity was featured here and what was therein Gravity lacked here. I don't think this is a series for me. I have so many books that I'd read before this one anyway so I'm going to 'read' this series through your reviews as well as others:)

  5. I've been reading a lot of mixed reviews for this series, and I'm just not sold on it yet Tanja! Though the covers are beautiful and I definitely wouldn't mind a planet with a purple sky:) I hope book three is everything you wished this one had been and that it completely blows you away! And gives you that fight:)

  9. I think this happens a lot with sequels or middle books in a trilogy, there is not a lot of plot progression because it's all going to happen in book 3 and that makes the sequel seem a bit pointless.

It's great that you still were able to enjoy this, I remember seeing reviews of book 1 and I still need to read it!

  10. I still need to pick up Gravity but not a lot of people enjoyed it for some reason?? I really like the premise for this series, and I think I'm still going to give it a try. I'm especially looking forward to the world-building. Too bad this one didn't live up to the first one though. I can't wait to meet Ari and Jackson and see their relationship! But at least you enjoyed this overall! Great review, Tanja! :D

  12. It's a shame this didn't blow you away and that the plot is somewhat static. Hopefully book three will improve matters! I still think I'm going to give this a chance, but maybe I should wait until the next book is out. Purple skies sounds super cool! :-) Lovely review!
