Book summary:
They have tried to squeeze us out, to stamp
us into the past.
But we are still here.
And there are more of us every day.
Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has
been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has
ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the
fight.
After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena
and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe
haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the
government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the
borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly
dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in
Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor.
Maybe we are driven crazy by our
feelings.
Maybe love is a disease, and we would
be better off without it.
But we have chosen a different road.
And in the end, that is the point of escaping the cure:
We are free to choose.
We are even free to choose the wrong thing.
Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points
of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at
last, their stories converge.
This one of the series I have got to say goodbye to this year. When I think of it, this year was full of them but at the same time I got to meet some amazing new characters whose stories I'm now anxiously expecting. That's just one of the reasons why I love reading.
Talking about plot here won't be an option, because as always when we talk about third and in this case final book in a series it's hard not to spoil things and I don't want to do that. But I can say that Delirium is an interesting series that pictures world without love. It was a new concept for me and interesting one at that. This trilogy was full of action and turning points and with all that it had a great world-building. I enjoyed more or less all the characters here and I did pick a side still I didn't hate the other one. I could even forgive that cliffhanger after Pandemonium.
I'd love to say that here, as in all Hollywood movies, love always wins, but honestly I don't know. That leads us to the biggest problem here. I usually don't have problems with open endings but the thing is that here things are left too open. I want to believe in one thing and hope that it's what happens but I can't as there is always that little devil on my shoulder that puts all "but what-if"s in my mind.
Good thing, though, is that my expectations for this one were minimal before reading Requiem because I have seen some terrible reviews for it. Because of that I enjoyed this book more than I thought. But still it leaves the bittersweet taste in my mouth, because it needed just a little to be perfect.
Rating: 4 stars.

Until the next time,
Aww, it's a shame this one didn't completely satisfy you. I avoid trilogies because I always wind up being disappointed by the last installment, which is such a shame, so I'm glad I didn't continue with this one. I am happy you liked it more than most reviewers, though, Tanja! Lovely review!(:
OdgovoriIzbrišiYes it's really a shame when the last one is the most disappointing one. Thanks Keertana :)
IzbrišiGlad you mostly liked it. I wasn't crazy about the ending but I'm still a big fan of the series…
OdgovoriIzbrišiThanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics
Yes I still do like the series but not the ending. Thanks Jen :)
IzbrišiI still havent found the courage to pick this one up. I just heard so many bad things about that ending and I'm scared. One day I will get to it. Great review.
OdgovoriIzbrišiTeresa @ Readers Live A Thousand Lives
Well it's unforgettable so you'll hear a lot about it. Thanks Teresa :)
IzbrišiI was really sad for this trilogy to end, it was really one of my favorites. I was pretty satisfied with it, but I'm with you, I'm not completely happy with the open ending. It frustrated me. But still, I enjoyed the story and I'm sad it's all over. :(
OdgovoriIzbrišiYeah, I'm still having those what ifs moments. Thanks Candace :)
IzbrišiI've been seeing quite a bit of mixed reviews regarding this one so I haven't started the series yet but my friend just lent it to me... *decisions * *decisions *
OdgovoriIzbrišiI think you should because it's still an interesting story only the ending is ruining it.
IzbrišiI'm still feeling really torn over this one. I was mostly disappointed because of that ending, and a part of me wishes that I hadn't bothered beginning this series in the first place. I'm glad you enjoyed this book more than you thought you would though. Sometimes going in with low expectations can make the world of difference. Great review!
OdgovoriIzbrišiI honestly don't know..I mean yeah maybe it's for the best not to start this series, but then again I'm glad I did. Thanks Sam :)
IzbrišiI don't think I'll be reading this series anytime soon. I hate open endings and you're right, I've seen the terrible reviews around as well. Glad that it helped with your enjoyment by lowering your expectations. I hate open endings though. Great review, Tanja. :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiMaybe we'll get more sequels, you never know ;) Anyhow I hope you'll read it one days still. Thanks Rachel :)
IzbrišiWell the ending of The Infernal Devices is not that open, I mean it's bearable. :) I hope you'll get to read it soon. Thanks Aman :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiI really did enjoy this series. I agree that the ending could have been better but overall I was happy with the way things were.
OdgovoriIzbrišiGreat review! :)
Me too :) Thanks :)
IzbrišiI still must read Pandemonium. I have it on my shelf, but need to find time to read it. Glad you like this :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiJanina @ Synchronized Reading
I hope you'll get to it soon. Thanks :)
IzbrišiI didn't start this series yet because I was waiting for all 3 books to come out because I had heard of the cliffhangers, and now I'm actually glad that I didn't start it. I've heard so many people being disappointed with the open ending and you have been too.
OdgovoriIzbrišiI strongly dislike open endings. I need closure, especially when it comes to a series. I just don't see the point in reading a series only to have it not end properly you know?
Anyways, at least the plot was interesting for you.
Lovely review! :)
Well if you really don't like open endings then this isn't for you, but you're right I wonder why they do that. Thanks Nick :)
IzbrišiRight? I've so many negative reviews for this too they all made me not want to start reading the series at all. Glad you enjoyed it, it makes me more excited!
OdgovoriIzbrišiI hope you'll give it a try :) Thanks :)
IzbrišiGreat to hear that love always wins, that is why I adore books and movies
OdgovoriIzbrišiYes me too :)
IzbrišiI have the first book in the series but I don't know why I don't feel like reading it. Yes, lots of readers have said the series ends on a bittersweet note but boy, that has made me curious! Fab review, Tanja! I hope I get into the mood to read these books soon.
OdgovoriIzbrišiSarika @ The Readdicts
I hope you'll get to them soon. Thanks girl :)
IzbrišiI haven't started this series, and I actually read many negative reviews for this. I don't know if I want to pick it up, but the concept is very intriguing. A world without love...I'd like to see how the author incorporates that into the story. I also can't wait to meet the characters. And I am not a fan of open endings in conclusion books. Whats the point of writing the end to a trilogy then?? Aside from the ending and some minor faults, I'm glad you enjoyed this overall, Tanja! Fantabulous review! :D

Yes I really don't see a point of writing a book if you won't close the story. Thanks :)
IzbrišiI still haven't read this because of all the negative reviews I read. I'm terrified I'm going to hate it. But it makes me SO happy to hear that because you had lowered expectations you actually enjoyed it. That gives me a lot of hope! Wonderful balanced review! (Sorry for comment bombing you ladies, I'm just now catching up on all my blog reading after moving this week :D)
OdgovoriIzbrišiYes you might enjoy it more that way ;) Thank you. I need to catch up with comments too :)
