Book summary:

"Nova Reed can't forget him-Quinton Carter, the boy with the honey-brown eyes who made her realize she deserved more than an empty life. His pain was so similar to her own. But Nova has been coming to terms with her past and healing, while Quinton is out there somewhere, sinking deeper. She's determined to find him and help him . . . before it's too late.

Nova has haunted his dreams for nearly a year-but Quinton never thought a sweet, kind person like her would care enough about a person like him. To Quinton, a dark, dangerous life is exactly what he deserves. And Nova has no place in it. But Nova has followed him to Las Vegas, and now he must do whatever it takes to keep her away, to maintain his self-imposed punishment for the unforgivable things he's done. But there's one flaw in his plan: Nova isn't going anywhere . . ."

My heart... Breaking Nova by Jessica Sorensen was a quite surprise for me. (You can read my review here.) I thought it would be just another new adult romance, but it turned out to be much more than that. One thing that I have to admit is my fear of second/middle book syndrome - I had my doubts about Saving Quinton. Just like Reviving Izabel wasn't even close to awesomeness of Killing Sarai (J.A. Remderski). But it was even better than the first novel.

Girl who wants to save a boy and boy who doesn't want to be saved. For starters, I have to warn you - if you are expecting fluffy romance novel packed in a lot of drama and bad boy vs. good girl scenarios, Saving Quinton is not for you. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't read it - latest Jessica Sorensen release in on must read list of 2014. Yes, there is a love story - one of the epic kind if you ask me - but main focus is on addiction. Brutal and heartwrenching tale about "lost boys" of our generation. Not an easiest book to read. It is narrated by Nova and Quinton, one of the beast dual point of views I've read lately because you do notice that the story is told by a different person. Nova feels guilt for leaving Quinton and she still has few issues with Landon's death. Quinton falls deeper into the world of drugs and it gets harder for him everyday. Story is not just about two of them - we get glimpses into the lives of Tristan, Delilah and Dylan too. The big part of the novel is about Tristan, Quinton's cousin.

Please read it! This is one of the rare new adult novels that steps out of the boundaries of genre. No alpha males, virgin girls who are fainting every time they see naked abs and tattoos, no bad boys/man-whores changing their ways because of the naive little girls with big blue eyes... Saving Quinton will break your heart just like it did mine.

Is this a last novel in Nova series? No it is not. Nova and Quinton: No Regrets comes out next month, April 15th, and that should be a conclusion to their story. Tristan will get his own book - Wreck Me will be published in October.

Happy reading,

  2. Wonderful review, Glass! I keep going back and forth on whether I'll pick this up. You're review is making me lean towards reading it. I think I'll wait closer to the date of release for the last book, though. :)

    1. Please, please... It is amazing.
(But I'm a little bit afraid, I saw that you gave only two stars to Maybe Someday.)

  3. I just wishlisted this even though I don't read much new adult AND I'm pretty sure I'll have to read the lackluster Breaking Nova before getting to this one. BUT Saving Quinton just sounds SO good ;) Great review, Glass!

  4. Sorenson is another author whose work I haven't touched with a twelve-foot long pole merely because I have such little luck with New Adult. I'll definitely have to re-think that after your review, though, Glass - fantastic!

  5. Aman, this one is completely different, I think you'd like it.

  6. Did you see the free novella on Amazon right now title Deliah? If not go grab it it is number #2.5 in the series!

This is a really hard series to read, so heartbreaking.

  7. I think I'm going to have to be in the right mood for this one Glass! I like dark books, but whenever someone uses the word "brutal" I know I'm going to have to strap on some series emotional armor before reading. I love that this second book was even better than the first, that seems to be fairly rare these days, and I'm so glad to see such a high rating from you!

  8. I don't really read much NA, but when I do decide to do so, it has to be something that's more than the usual we see in this demographic. You give this a lot of high praise, so I'm very positive it would be a good readig experience for me as well to try this one out. I love awesome love stories - they're timeless and if it's dark, that's a huge bonus too. Great review, Glass!

  10. Oh, God. While this sounds absolutely amazing and I know it'll have many, many fans, it also seems to be waaaay out of my comfort zone. I avoid NA altogether, and gritty, painful NA is not my thing.
THen again, sometimes the mood strikes.
    Great review!

  11. I agree with Maja, I just don't know if I can do this. I am so not a fan of the troubled NA story lines Perhaps one day....

  13. A New Adult novel that's not stereotypical? You needn't say more; I've been on the look-out for one of these rare beats. Great review!

  14. This actually sounds quite decent, I like how the characters aren't typical. I haven't read Jessica Sorenson yet but I've heard so much, glad this didn't have middle book syndrome. Lovely review Glass!

  15. I'm glad this avoids many of those NA tropes. I'm still a little wary of the "two broken people who can heal each other" thing but I'm definitely interested in giving this author a try!

  17. Wow, a NA book that doesn't follow the typical plot lines and employ the same annoying characters! I might have to give this one a go ;)

  18. I haven't read Sorensen yet, but I do enjoy some NA, so I think I'll give this series a go. Sounds like it breaks the NA mold a bit, which is great (any mold breaking is great in my book!). Wonderful review :)

  19. Whoa! I'm glad this was better for you than the first book ;) The problem for me with Jessica's books is that every single one of her books has drugs in them and someone is addicted or it influences one's life enough to be a problem. Idk. I want something else, but I'm very glad that you connected with the story and felt like it was out of the box in NA lit. I hope you'll enjoy the conclusion just as much if not more:)
