Book summary:
Ember Miller and Chase Jennings are ready to stop running. After weeks spent in hiding as two of the Bureau of Reformation’s most wanted criminals, they have finally arrived at the safe house, where they hope to live a safe and quiet existence.
And all that’s left is smoking ruins.
Devastated by the demolition of their last hope, Ember and Chase follow the only thing left to them—tracks leading away from the wreckage. The only sign that there may have been survivors.
With their high profile, they know they can’t stay out in the open for long. They take shelter in the wilderness and amidst the ruins of abandoned cities as they follow the tracks down the coast, eventually finding refugees from the destroyed safe house. Among them is someone from Chase’s past—someone he never thought he’d see again.
Banding together, they search for a place to hide, aiming for a settlement a few of them have heard about…a settlement that is rumored to house the nebulous organization known as Three. The very group that has provided Ember with a tiny ray of hope ever since she was first forced on the run.
Three is responsible for the huge network of underground safe houses and resistance groups across the country. And they may offer Ember her only chance at telling the world her story. At fighting back.
         Another grand finale I've been waiting for and sadly once again I wish I could say it blew me away but it seems to me I expected too much. Ember and Chase's story is something I've been enjoying since Article 5 and I really loved all the twists and happenings in the first two books. Sadly this one wasn't as thrilling but still Kristen Simmons gave us satisfying ending.

         On of the things I like about this series is that each book continues where the previous stopped. It feels like you never left the world of the characters and you easily slip into the whole story and you start experiencing everything with the characters. After many troubles in Breaking Point our group is searching for survivors from the safe house. They are tired and drained but still they aren't giving up. But on their way they are thrown into something they never could believe existed.

          What I enjoyed the most is how with the characters the whole world grew. Not only main characters but secondary as well. I really liked Rebecca and Sean and their dynamic. But then there is my Chase, my dear Chase *le sigh* I don't think I ever meet more troubled and at the same time loving boy. It was painful to see him struggle but also it was nice to see how his and Ember's love grew.

           Problem was the first part of the book which wasn't as strong as the last 100 pages which brought back the story as I knew it and reminded me why I love it so much. I didn't say it was bad but it wasn't as good as I was used to. All in all, I'm gonna miss these people. So farewell.

Rating: 4 stars.

Until the next time,

  1. Well you must have liked it a lot since you rated it four stars. I'm glad it gave you a satisfying ending. I honestly didn't continue on the series after reading Article 5. Character growth seems to have really made this final book great. It's always bittersweet when you end a series. Happy this one was more sweet than bitter (;

  2. Awww it's so sad when a series ends isn't it? A shame it didn't live up to the first book (few books do when the first was so brilliant). At least the story ended up being awesome in the end. Great review Tanja!

  3. I do love it when a set of characters develop throughout the course of the books, although it's sad that this one didn't blow you away! I have been meaning to start this series for ages, lol. It is usually like that for a lot of books--that the last 100 pages or so are much better. At least the ending was amazing, yeah? Awesome review, Tanja. :D

  5. It's so nice to have a book starting right off where the last one was finishing. I haven't tried this series yet but heard a lot about it. I'm sorry this one wasn't as good as the others even if you liked it. I think it's always really tricky with final books... It's rare when I'm not disappoited but some are perfect too.

  12. So this is the last of the series? And I haven't even read the first book! Lol. Well, I'm going to have to start this! In spite of the negative points you've mentioned, it sure does look like I will enjoy this series. '

    Thanks for the great review, and for visiting my blog and commenting on my WOW post!! : )

  13. And this is one of the few dystopian series that I actually want to read right now. For the most part--over them, but I have all three of these (and still haven't read them, GAH!). I'll have to do that soon. I'm sorry the front part of the book didn't live up to your expectations, but SO glad that ultimately it ended well (Like I said, REALLY want to read these).
