Book summary:

There are two sides to every love story. Now hear Will’s.

Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache.

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from hispoint of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.
Quite honestly I didn't want to write reviews for either of these but then again I've gotten them for review so it's only fair to do this. If you wonder why I didn't want to, well I don't know how I feel about them.

I put these two together cause they're similar but then again very different at the same time. Both are basically just stories told from boys POVs. They're different cause they are two different stories all together.

Now to This Girl. I was really happy that I got to see Will as a narrator but at the same time I was afraid. Even though the fist two books in this series weren't flawless I still enjoyed them. To be honest this one was sweet too but it had some sucks and sweets. Sweets were seeing and remembering the story in general, then reading another slams which is always special and also the epilogue. I didn't need it cause I more or less had that idea in my head but it was sweet. Sucks for me were all the parts at honeymoon. It was too cheesy and I wasn't buying it.

All in all I'm really happy that I've gotten a chance to refresh my memory. Now it's really time to leave this story behind, I think.

Book summary:

Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.
Beautiful Disaster was something special to me. I believe it was the first New Adult book to me even though I had no idea what that meant at the time. Lately all NA stories are somehow the same. But I don't believe we'll get another Travis cause that boy is unique. I can't say that I love him or hate him. I understand him somehow which is the only thing that matters.

I was even more happy to read this story cause I've read Beautiful Disaster a year or so ago so remembering all the drama was nice and intense. I got to see some other things here and it was good but besides that it was nothing new. I don't know what have I expected.

Another thing that connects these two is that while you're reading them some time after you've got through the previous books in series you're good. You'll enjoy and remember some things. Problem is for people who are reading them right after they have finished the previous books in these series. I don't think they'll enjoy. But it's up to them to decide.

I won't rate either of these as I can't make up my mind. But all in all nothing extremely new happened.

Until the next time,

  1. Both books are in the boy's POV, right? I think I was the only one who didn't enjoy Slammed, but it was mostly because of the narrator and I hope that This Girl changes my view on it.

I think I loved Beautiful Disaster as much as you did, but i'm kind of scared of reading Walking Disaster because it might change my love for Travis. Anywho, great insight on both books, Tanja!

    1. Yes both are from boy's POV :) I was afraid of reading WD just because of that but I still like him :) Thanks :)

  2. I'm dying to read This Girl. Janhvi and I have planned to read it together in June and I can't wait. I'm glad there were tons of sweets to balance the sucks. Well, I am a wee bit scared about finding the same things all over again in the book, but yes, Will is amazing and so is Colleen Hoover so I'm sure the story is going to be amazing too!

And you finally read Walking Disaster! You are right my friend, Travis is unique, and I love him. Like, really. Truly, madly and deeply. I'm glad you enjoyed it, even with the certain repetitions.

AND... Right you are about not rating or reviewing these books because no words can describe them!

    Beautiful reviews, Tanja! :)

    1. I hope you'll enjoy it soon. Yes there were some new slams!! :D I don't love him that much but yeah he is on my boyfriend list :) Thanks Sarika :)

  3. I always wonder if getting the guy's POV would actually make my enjoyment of the series worse, and it seems like it's a very tight edge for an author to write on. I'm glad you enjoyed some of Will and Travis' POV's in these books, though some parts may not have worked as well as you'd hoped. Still, even without the ratings, I appreciate hearing your thoughts! :-)

    1. It's not worse but not the best. I dunno how to explain it. It was just a story only different POV. Thanks :)

  4. I have This Girl and plan to read it soon. Since it's a retelling from different perspective I planned to jump and read it without reading book #1 and book#2. We will see how that will turn out. :D

I tried reading Walking Disaster but I read Beautiful Disaster a month ago and as you said since it was too close, this book was boring to me, I felt like there was almost nothing new.

    Great not-so-mini reviews. :)

    1. I'm not sure you'll enjoy that book cause here only certain parts of their past is highlighted. Still I'll wait and see what you think of it. :)
Yes I assumed that. LOL I was trying! Thanks :)

  5. I'm not surprised to hear that nothing much happened with these books. I'm not a fan of either of these series, though I've read the predecessors, but particularly with This Girl, I found so many scenes of the last two books to be too cheesy as well, which definitely took away from the emotional impact. Anyhow, lovely reviews, Tanja! I hope you pick up some stronger books next! :)

    1. Well then you should skip them both. They're not for the readers who didn't enjoy the previous books. Thanks! Oh I will for sure :)

  6. sorry they left you so undecided and didn't bring much new to the table

  7. I have both of these for review as well. I have to say I'm more excited for This Girl than Walking Disaster. I heard Abby is more irritating in Walking Disaster. Nice reviews, Tanja. :)

    1. LOL It wasn't for me as I wasn't in her head. She was the same old Abby. I hope you'll enjoy both of these :) Thanks :)

  8. Beautiful Disaster was also my first NA book. I've read quite a few since then and I agree that Travis is definitely unique. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these!
