Book summary

When Lauren Monroe first laid eyes on Michael Delaney back in high school, she had every reason to stay away from him; within minutes of their first encounter, his volatile actions confirmed his notorious reputation. But Lauren saw something in him that caused her to question his bad-boy persona, and against her better judgment, she took a chance. She had no way of knowing that the unlikely friendship they formed would become so important to her.

Or that it would end so painfully.

Eight years later, when Lauren begins her new job at Learn and Grow Day Care, Michael is the last person she expects to see. Refusing to revisit the hurt and confusion of their past, Lauren vows to keep her distance from him. But staying away from Michael proves to be more difficult than she thought, despite her lingering grief and her instincts for self-preservation.

As Lauren and Michael recall the friendship that changed them forever and the events that tore them apart, will they finally be able to heal? Or will the ghosts of Michael’s past prove to be too much to overcome?

Review

She's the good girl, straight A student, quiet girl and he is new boy with bad-ass vibes who punches first and then asks questions. They are best friends.

“Hey, Lauren?” he called, and she stopped so abruptly her bag slid off her shoulder. She caught it at the last second and turned, her expression taken aback.
Del smirked. “Don’t be so surprised that I know your name. You’re not as invisible as you think you are.”
She closed her mouth, looking at him.
“I’m not gonna stop calling you Red, though” he added casually.”

Does this sounds familiar to you? Yeah, I thought so! We all wanted to be that girl in high school, one who can control the bad boy/the player. For 99,99%  this was just fantasy because Bad Boy usually never see the Quiet Girl when he can have all the other girls. Back to You by Priscilla Glenn brings a story about one boy who did notice one of us. Ripped her hart out, left out of her life. But wait here's the good part.

Story is told from present with flashbacks to the past - that would be Olivia and Michael's high school days. Honestly, I didn't think I'd like this book very much because of  not so promising beginning, but Priscilla Glenn made it work somehow. I was so consumed with it and before I knew it, I read the last page.
What I liked the most was the way everything went down - especially  in the "past" part of the storytelling. There were moment that I laughed, swooned and wanted to kick Michael all over his stupid face. But it ended just perfectly!:)
You will not regret time wasted on reading this sweet book. Hurry and grab your copy!

  4. Hahaha! Good. I want to kick him in his stupid little face too because he sounds like just a jerk. I think this book what just get me frustrated and angry. I despise most bad boys.

  5. Yup, the bad boy and quite girl romance story arc is pretty formulaic and normally wouldn't interest me, but I'm drawn to this one. And especially sice you reviewed it positively! Great review
