And I did love the idea of a teenager struggling to adapt to her parents' more conservative values. I have no issue with curfews or rules or insisting that your children are polite and respectful, but her father didn't want her to learn to drive a car, have a phone or go to college. To me, that crosses the line into controlling behavior.
But even if we don't agree on this one, we can agree on Looking for Alibrandi -- that's a one of my favorites :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics
Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04756695137600895936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3176103200738448185.post-80530479610477454002014-06-18T01:31:42.246+02:002014-06-18T01:31:42.246+02:00This sounds really interesting! Plus, I love a good book that can take me away from reality without me even knowing it! I'll definitely check this out! I had never even heard of Melina Marchetta basically, but throughout the past week, it has been thrown at me from every. single. direction. Rashika and Jasprit's especially :D now you too? Ok, I really need to try something by her. Anyhooow, I love the abuse paragraph you wrote and it's so true! Abuse isn't only the thing you notice physically, it comes in so many ways and the family paragraph too! I think that this book could potentially be for me and I think this is a story that needs to be told. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed it, Glass!
