Hello all. Today is another Tuesday and it's time for another Top Ten Tuesday which is all you all know a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. So our topic for today is top ten gateway books or better say my list will be a list of books that got me into some genres or brought me back to some genre. Here they are.
First book that told me I'd become a reader
Book that introduced me to YA
Books that introduced me to Urban Fantasy
Books that brought me back to chick-lit
Books that made me love re-tellings
Books that will get me out of any reading slump
I'd love to see your picks as well so feel free to link them up in comments below.

Cinder was also the book that got me into retellings. My gateway book into reading in general was Evernight by Claudia Gray.
OdgovoriIzbrišiAwesome list! <33
I need to read that one. Still haven't (shame on me). Thanks Mel :)
IzbrišiDarkfever and Jellicoe Road would likely be on my list too, not to mention the ever-influential Harry Potter. Great Top Ten, Tanja!
OdgovoriIzbrišiI thought about putting HP but had no idea where. Thanks Keertana :)
IzbrišiNice list. I didn't make one, but the Harry Potter books would totally be on it...as well as The Perks of Being a Wallflower. :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiYeah I kinda of forgot these two *facepalm* Thanks Lauren :)
IzbrišiWhat an awesome list! Vampire Academy definitely renewed my love for young adult books. I really need to read Karen Marie Moning this year cause I am determined to see if its worth the hype. Thanks for sharing! :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiJanhvi @ The Readdicts
I cannot wait to see your impressions. Thanks Janhvi :)
IzbrišiOhh Cruel Beauty, that really was a great re-telling. Love that VA is what got you into YA. That book is awesome! Great list!
OdgovoriIzbrišiTeresa @ Readers Live A Thousand Lives
Woot for VA. Twilight really got me back into reading and YA, and blogging
OdgovoriIzbrišiI wasn't aware of YA then. So VA really did the thing for me. Thanks :)
IzbrišiThe little prince, The shadow of the wind and Jellicoe Road are on my list as well. Great list, Tanja!! (:
OdgovoriIzbrišiSo happy to hear that! Thanks Ini :)
IzbrišiI love those books that spark something inside of us and really let us appreciate a genre. Great list of books!!
OdgovoriIzbrišiWe all do :)) Thanks Ali :)
IzbrišiKMM introduced me to UF too! Well either that or Kelely Armstrong which I consider more PNR so who knows >.< I really enjoyed the VA series - Twilight is what introduced me to YA so yay for my being a cliché! ha!
OdgovoriIzbrišiYeah Kelley is really mix of genres so I'm not sure either xD Thanks Giselle :)
IzbrišiDARKFEVER!!!! That series and the Kate Daniels series were my introduction to UF and I really don't think I could have asked for better gateway books! SO good. I think Cinder might have jump started my love of retellings as well, and now I can't get enough of them Tanja!
OdgovoriIzbrišiYes I totally agree. Same here Jenny :)
IzbrišiThis is a great list, and I enjoyed most of these!
OdgovoriIzbrišiSo happy to hear that Kim :)
IzbrišiI read and enjoyed many of these books as well. And absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Cruel Beauty, Cinder, and The Little Prince. These are amazing picks and I hope we all continue reading and getting books that we will learn to love <3 <3 <3

I am so happy to hear that Faye!!! :) Thanks :)
IzbrišiAh, The Little Prince :') Le sigh. That's such a wonderful, inspiring and thoughtful story :) VAMPIRE ACADEMY. 'nuff said. Also, to me UF introduction was with Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead, but can't wait to read Darkfever :) Cinder, yay!!! So happy we're both new fans to this series and whohoo! Can't wait to crack the spine of Cruel Beauty already :) Great choices, Tanja!
OdgovoriIzbrišiIt is indeed!!! I wasn't a fan of GC it actually turned me off. Thanks Siiri :)
IzbrišiThe Vampire Academy is my favourite series and one that introduced me to the world of Vampires and the various novels on them after Twilight of course! I haven't read Cruel Beauty but its on my next to be read list. I wasn't a fan of Cinder for some reason though. Love Jennifer E Smith's books!! :) Lovely choices, Tanja! :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiI hope you'll enjoy Cinder as it's a really interesting story. Thanks Emma :)
IzbrišiOh I love this! I think Cinder would be my retelling one because I didn't like them before. Cruel Beauty was great as well. I know my opening to fantasy was The Mists of Avalon. I can't think of any others though.
OdgovoriIzbrišiMe neither and then I have read it and started reading more and more of them. Thanks Candace :)
IzbrišiYESS to VA! I that that was the series that reinstated my interest I guess in Vampires (post-twilight) and anything really paranormal/fantasy-ish? I don't know how to describe it all that well but definetly helped me in that element LOL!
OdgovoriIzbrišiGreat choices!
Lily @ Lilysbookblog
Yeah it was same to me! :) Thanks Lily :)
IzbrišiYou have a great list of books here. I've read quite a few of them and think they're great choices :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiThanks Janina :)
IzbrišiSo many great books! I loved VA and Statistical Probability. I really want to read KMM's books, too. Thanks for sharing!
OdgovoriIzbrišiYou need to read KMM's books! Thanks Andrea :)
Izbrišiawesome choices :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiThanks Lily :)
IzbrišiHeck yes on the retellings! I'm not sure what was the book that kickstarted that for me but I did enjoy those two. And Vampire Academy was what got me started me in YA too!
OdgovoriIzbrišiSo happy to hear that! :) Thanks Alise :)
IzbrišiI'm so happy to hear that!! :) Oh I cannot wait for you to read it, Aman :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiSo many good books on your list! The Little Prince is a book that makes me remember being a child, and VA, Jellicoe, and Cinder are all faves of mine!
OdgovoriIzbrišiMands @ The Bookish Manicurist
I'm really glad to hear that Mands :)
IzbrišiI love this topic! I always feel awful that in my Children's Lit class in college there were two books in our reading schedule lineup that I never got a chance to read and one was The Little Prince. I should dig out the copy and give it a read. The other was The Giver. Yep, kicking myself. I can see VA being a gateway to YA, and a good one! Harry Potter was what got me reading again but it was Twilight that got me really into YA. :)
OdgovoriIzbrišiAww it's such a shame that you've missed The Little Prince as it's really wonderful :) Thanks Sara :)
IzbrišiOoh I love these gateway books! VA is totally an amazing way to start YA (so much better than Twilight and other gateway books). I agree, Cinder got me hooked on retellings, and Jellicoe Road can get me out of any reading slump. Fab list, thanks for sharing!
OdgovoriIzbrišiYay it's amazing we have same taste :D Thanks Lauren :)
IzbrišiNice list, but we've had such a different reading journey ;) If I made a list like this, it would've been so different. I've read half of these, and I only love The Little Prince & Cinder, and I still need to read a few of the rest, they've been forever on my TBR list :)
